The cult repertory cinema with a single screen but a lot going on it.

In the past, Aero became a legend among Czech cinemas thanks to its specific and ambitious programming, a tradition we adhere to, to this day.

Along a fine selection of current distribution titles, we screen a wealth of classics, cult movies and hidden gems from the past decades of cinema history, which we present in specially curated monthly cycles, we also feature our own festivals and events like double features and marathons.

Even though films are our main focus, you can experience much more than that in our cinema.

You can visit the best opera houses, theatres or concert venues and exhibition halls around the world through our live or recorded broadcasts.

Our cinema has a capacity of 323 seats. We use a Sony SRX-R515P projector. Our screenings are up to 4K resolution with 7.1 surround sound.

Box office

The box office opens one hour before the first evening screening and closes 30 minutes after the last screening begins. In the mornings and afternoons, the box office opens 30 minutes ahead of each screening.

Cancellation of tickets

We are sorry if you‘re unable to attend a screening you have bought. However, cancellation of tickets is still possible, but at least one work day in advance and only at the cinema box office. We can refund your money in cash or you can choose any other screening straight away. Please note that it is no longer possible to cancel your ticket on the day of the screening.

Bar

An integral part of the cinema is a spacious cinema café, which is transformed into a charismatic Žižkov bar in the evening. The courtyard features a pleasant seating area during the summer months. Drinks can also be consumed in the screening hall in our returnable movie cups.

Kino Pass is a prepaid card

You can use it to buy tickets for any screening in Aero, Bio Oko, Přítomnost and Světozor cinemas in Prague, Scala in Brno and Bio Central in Hradec Králové. It’s transferable and can be recharged repeatedly. You can pay with your card or recharge it in either the online reservation system or in the cinema box offices. The card works with credits:

You can buy 500 credits for 500 CZK
You can buy 1100 credits for 1000 CZK
You can buy 2300 credits for 2000 CZK

When you activate your card, the minimum credit purchase is 500 CZK. When you pay for cinema tickets, one credit equals 1 CZK. Your credits are valid for one year since the date of the last using.

You can buy your Kino Pass at the box office in any of our cinemas.

Exhibitions

In the foyer of our cinema, you can always see a carefully curated exhibition of posters from the Terry Posters Gallery, which we change at regular intervals.

Music before screenings

We play a selection of the best new music curated by Radio 1 before each screening.

The beginnings of the cinema date to 1933. At that time, it was ceremoniously opened with a screening of the comedy "Madla z cihelny" by director Slavínský. The cinema in its original form had a capacity of 648 seats and was run by Emil Sirotek. Reconstructions were carried out in 1959, 1998, 2001 and the last major reconstruction of the foyer in 2011. The modern operation of Aero by our group of enthusiasts began in February 1998 with a screening of Abbas Kiarostami's film "Taste of Cherries".

With its distinctive atmosphere and varied program, the cinema soon won the hearts of numerous film fans from Žižkov and the whole of Prague and experienced its "golden years" at a time when single-screen cinemas in Prague were fading. 

We try to maintain and develop the spirit of the area and the friendly relationship with the audience. We enrich selected screenings with lectures and special events and experiences.

In the program, we feature regular cycles such as Legends in Aero, Double Feature, Masters of Animation, Blind Date with Aero and more. Aero is also the base of The Shockproof Film Festival.
